Many critics have described their music as "psychedelic country." In association with Fat Possum and Autumn Tone Records, Futurebirds have released a number of EPs and studio albums so far. Their first musical compilation to the hit the shelves was the self-titled EP, Futurebirds. Songs like, "Dirty D," "Megachills" and "Breathe for Days" turned out to be the most popular ones. The EP got the band a slow headway into mainstream.
In 2010, Futurebirds were out with their debut studio album, Hampton’s Lullaby. A writer from PopMatters described the record by saying, "this isn’t a high-energy record, but after a listen or two on a rainy day, you may find yourself feeling better, even if you didn’t realize you wanted to." Songs like, "Happy Animals," "Man with no Knees" and "There is No Place for This to Go" received positive reviews from many critics across the US. Following the partial success of the studio album, Futurebirds released their second EP titled, Via Flamina. A critic from an internet publication, Everybody Taste, praised the record by saying, "It doesn't take a genius to realize there's something special brewing within this young band, and thankfully, Via Flamina does its best to capture that sentiment." This time, the band also added a few cover tracks like Stevie Nick’s "Wild Heart" and Chris Isaak’s "Wicked Games." By 2011, Futurebirds were all over the radio and internet also making major tours across the US. They have also been seen multiple times at the very famous, Bonnaroo Music Festival.
After three years of making, Futurebirds have finally released their second studio album, Baba Yaga.
