The foundation of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs was laid in the early 90s when the musicians, Brian Chase and Karen O met each other at Oberlin College in Ohio. After Karen moved to the New York University, she met another musical talent, Nick Zinner. They both formed a duo called Unitard which soon became a trio after drummer, Brian Chase joined the band. Their indie rock and garage punk style of music earned them a lot of buzz in the underground community. With time, they have evolved their musical style by adding different elements of post-punk revival, alternative rock, art-punk, indie rock and dance-punk in their music. By 2003, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs were finally in the position to make their first album public and Fever to Tell was out in the market.  As expected, the record was a commercial success receiving a Silver certification in UK and Gold in the US. Popular magazines like Rolling Stone, Spin, NME and Pitchfork Media inducted the album's name in their list of "Best Albums of the Decade." Fever to Tell also earned the band a Grammy Award nomination for "Best Alternative Music Album." The music video of the song, "Maps" was nominated for four MTV Video Music Awards as well. Fever to Tell is also featured in the popular book, 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs's third full length studio album, It's Blitz! turned out to be a worldwide success, receiving a Gold certification in Australia and Silver in UK. On the whole, the record took noticeable spots on various charts of Ireland, Norway, Canada, France, UK and the US. The song, "Heads Will Role" debuted at number one on many charts, earning the band a Grammy Award nomination for "Best Alternative Music Album." Charles Aaron from Spin Magazine stated that, "the album imbues a remarkable emotional depth and finesse." A critic from NME is also reported to have said that, "It's Blitz!'s heartfelt songs  is an unexpectedly emphatic reassertion of why Yeah Yeah Yeahs are one of the most exciting bands of this decade." After releasing three amazing albums, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs is finally out with the fourth one titled, Mosquito.
