Voodoo Music Tickets

The Voodoo Experience, commonly known as Voodoo MusicFest, is one of the most celebrated annual music festivals in America. The festival is hosted every year at the City Park in New Orleans, Louisiana (NOLA). It is staged during Halloween each year, either at the end of October or the beginning of November.

The festival debuted in 1999 and since then it has brought to stage more than two thousand musicians, singers and artists from the national and the local scene. These include internationally recognized artists and bands such as Metallica, Eminem, Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam, KISS, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg and numerous others. The local acts that have made an impact on the festival include names such as Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, Rebirth Brass Band, Dr. John, The Original Meters and The Preservation Hall Jazz Band among others.

The Voodoo Fest debuted on Halloween in 1999 at the Tad Gormley Stadium at the New Orleans City Park. It was organized and handled by Stephen Rehage of Rehage Entertainment. Rehage, the CEO, began the festival as a one day event. He included various national and local acts to the event. Headlining the first edition were hip hop artists Wyclef Jean and the Refugee All-Stars and DJ singer-songwriter Moby. Other acts that performed on the stage in the first year included Third Eye Blind, The Roots, Train, Dash Rip Rock and Ben Folds Five along with many others.

Since the beginning, Rehage has tried to bring music artists of various genres to the show. As far as the local music scene is concerned, he has put in a variety of Cajun, Creole, Bayou and NOLA music artists to form a concoction of cultural diversity. Rehage, after thirteen years, handed the management of the festival to Live Nation Entertainment in 2013.

The second year of the Voodoo Fest garnered widespread critical acclaim and international recognition for its efforts in 2000. This was mostly due to the fact that world renowned rapper Eminem headlined the event for the promotion of his debut album, The Slim Shady LP that went triple platinum. Other praise-worthy acts that year included The Black Eyed Peas, Stone Temple Pilots, Cypress Hill, 311, Counting Crows and a dozen more. The fest had been extended to a two day event for 2000 which remained so till 2007. From then on, another day was added to make it a three day event, which is now its current format.

In 2005, after Hurricane Katrina hit NOLA, many prophesized that the Voodoo Fest would be another casualty for the disaster. But Voodoo Fest was moved to Memphis in full swing. However, it returned to its hometown for a day of music to pay homage and distraction to the relief workers, firefighters, military, National Guard, police and civilians who were hard at work to rebuild the city. This act of kindness was lauded nationwide.

Over the years, Voodoo Fest has added more and more numbers to its attendees, listeners and viewers. Since its debut, it has serviced more than a million fans of various music genres. It has also hosted some memorable performances, including R.E.M.'s last ever US performance.

On the occasion of its fifteenth anniversary, the Fest was headlined by fifteen major acts including Pearl Jam, Bassnectar, Nine Inch Nails and others. Now held under the banner of 'Voodoo Music + Arts Experience', the show has also brought to limelight many artists, painters and sculptors.

After the successful 2014 event, which featured the Foo Fighters, Skrillex, Arctic Monkeys and Outkast among others, it will be returning once again to the City Park around Halloween. So grab Voodoo Music tickets and enjoy the experience of a lifetime!
