Nashville Symphony Tickets

Nashville Symphony Orchestra is a classical music ensemble that is active at all fronts. Be it music, academia or community outreach programs, NSO proves to be commendable in every way. No wonder it has numerous awards under its belt. Naxos, the world's most celebrated classical music label shelled their recordings under their name. They were released and in a matter of months bagged a whole lot of Grammy nominations leading to seven prestigious wins.

Nashville Symphony Orchestra (NSO) is a true gem of the city of Nashville. It is known for its longstanding history of supporting and encouraging classical music in the present times. Its musical tradition and impeccable style are unmatched in the state of Tennessee. It is one of the largest and the most popular non-profit orchestras in the country. It has become well known for its innovative programming and an extensive volume of recorded works. The orchestra's concerts and performances are one of their kind. Every season, the NSO comes with a wired range of concert series and solo performances. These acts are some of the most anticipated and awaited ones delivered by the orchestra. This year the NSO brings a great set of live performances to choose from. All you need to do is get hold of Nashville Symphony Orchestra tickets. Be sure to do that in a timely manner.

Currently the NSO is being headed by Alan D. Valentine. Valentine as the President and CEO along with the orchestra's Music Director Giancarlo Guerrero has made this ensemble a really prolific one. The orchesta conducts approximately a hundred and fifty spectacular performances throughout the year. The strongest point of the orchestra remains the repertoire of classics created by legendary maestros. It aims and continues to produce exceptional musical performances based on them. However, the symphony has proved that is dynamically evolving by bringing in a diverse mix of influences to classical orchestra and chamber music. From jazz to pop and folk, the orchesta has recently been active in creating a wide range of fusion compositions. They too have been awe-inspiring for the regular orchestra fans but also the youth developing interest in the genres of classic and chamber music.

The roots of the NSO got back to the Symphony Society that was originally formed in 1920. An effort of amateur musicians and George Pullen Jackson a famous music critic/professor of the time took good fifteen years to get a foothold. Led by Walter Sharp during World War II, the orchestra started by performing at the War Memorial Auditorium. The first conductor of the orchestra was the young William Strickland. His fresh talent and exceptional grasp created high benchmarks for the orchestra's signature performance. He then led the ensemble to the way of sustained excellence by helping it make new compositions and presenting them across the country. Slowly and gradually the NSO grew from a local/regional ensemble to an internationally recognized orchestra.

Four conductors followed Strickland under whom the Nashville Symphony Orchestra continued performing in War Memorial; Guy Taylor who led the group between 1951 and 1959; Willis Taylor, from 1959 to 1967; Thor Johnson who conducted the symphony between 1967 and 1975; Michael Charry, who headed the ensemble from 1976 to 1982. In 1980, the symphony began performing in the newly formed Tennessee Performing Arts Centre. The group came under the leadership its greatest conductor Kenneth Schermerhorn in 1983. From 1983 to 2005, the orchestra achieved the highest artistic standards. It was under his influence and supervision that the orchestra gave its debut performance in Carnegie Hall. This was a part of a sold out East Coast tour that made the Symphony a big name in classical music. Nashville Symphony Orchestra tickets for this tour were very high in demand and they were impossible to find. After Schermerhorn death in 2005, Leonard Slatkin took the lead as Music Advisor. The orchestra won many awards during his leadership. Its current leadership stepped in 2008 and till now continues to signify the group's work internationally.

The Orchestra's efforts towards local community groups have focused on providing musical education and community support programs. The ensemble and its hard work has earned it respect of the students and the local fine arts community. Approximately 250,000 people have benefited a great deal form the NSO's regular and special outreach programs. The NSO has been arranging concerts in neighborhoods along with trainee presentations/ concerts and instrument lessons for everyone interested in the art form. Don't forget to be a part of this year's concerts. Grab your tickets today.
