He is coming to entertain the audience at Hollywood Bowl this fall. Joshua Weilerstein tickets are now selling for the show.
Twenty five year old Joshua was born and raised in Boston. He belongs to a famous musical clan known as the Weilerstein Trio, which includes his parents and sister. Given the musical family background, it wasn't odd that Joshua developed interest in music and decided to pursue it as a profession. Initially, Joshua wanted to be a sportswriter. It wasn't until fifteen years of age that he realized he wanted to become a musician. Joshua completed dual Master of Music degrees from the New England Conservatory. He did his degree in violin with Lucy Chapman and his orchestral conducting with Hugh Wolff.
Over the years, Joshua has conducted several major Scandinavian orchestras. He has bonded strongly with several of them including the Copenhagen Philharmonic, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Swedish Chamber Orchestra and Oslo Philharmonic. Weilerstein made successful debuts with the Northern Sinfonia and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra has and was re-invited to perform with both of them. He also performed with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic and more.
In 2013, Joshua returned to conduct at the Los Angeles Philharmonic in the United States. It is the same place where he once served as the Dudamel Fellow to the orchestra. He also came back to perform at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Toronto Symphony.
Joshua was awarded with the Aspen Conducting Prize and the Robert J. Harth Conductor Prize at the Aspen Music Festival where he performed under the tutelage of David Zinman in the summer of 2009 and 2010. Two years late Joshua returned to conduct the Festival Orchestra for the Aspen Music Festival in the summer of 2012.
The Símon Bolívar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela (SBYO) took Joshua on board in 2007 as a violin soloist. Soon the SBYO invited Joshua to tour with Gustavo Dudamel, the music director. For their 2007 American tour, Joshua joined the first violin section for the orchestra, which made him the first non-Venezuelan guest member for them. Joshua made his debut with SBYO as a guest conductor in 2010.
As part of the 2013-14 season, Joshua conducted debut performances in the United States with the symphony orchestra of Baltimore. In Europe, Joshua showcased his talents with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Bergen Philharmonic, Salzburg Mozarteumorchester and more.
Joshua listed Alan Gilbert, Gustavo Dudamel and Riccardo Chailly as his favorite conductors during an interview. He is soon coming to perform at the Hollywood Bowl which is famously known for its music performances. Get Joshua Weilerstein tickets today and book yourself a seat before all the good ones sell out.
Zachary Woolfe writes about Joshua in The New York Times, focusing on his jaw-clenching performance at the New York Philharmonic. The slashing forcefulness and the aggressiveness is what made the performance so amazing. According to the reviews on Berlingske Tidende, the former winner of the 'Malko Competition' was applauded as a king. He repaid the audience in the form of three highlights. He entered the hall, performed and stole the hearts of the audience. This is the impact that this amazing musician has on his audience. Bring your friends and family along to enjoy the music of Joshua Weilerstein live on stage.
