Internationally renowned for his recitals, chamber music and orchestral performances Jonathan Biss is an American pianist of classical music. He has produced several award-winning recordings. Now he is coming to Carnegie Hall for a live performance. Get your Jonathan Biss tickets today to witness an incredible performance by the star.

Jonathan's specialty is piano, but he is quite a versatile artist when it comes to the compositions a he plays. His repertoire ranges from Beethoven to Mozart, and his portfolio of performances includes works by Janacek and Schoenberg, along with many contemporary composers such as Gyorgy Kurtag. He has also performed commissions by Lewis Spartlan, Leon Kirchner, Bernard Rands and Timo Andres.

Jonathan is the third generation music artist of his family. He is the grandson of a cellist and born to parents who were distinguished violinists. Thus Jonathan Biss has music abilities inborn in him. He started his piano lessons at the age of six. His refined tastes in the tunes he picks, and his agility with which he plays them is testimony to his incredible music aptitude and skills.

Jonathan Biss made his New York recital debut and New York Philharmonic debut in 2000-01 season, when he was only twenty years old. His first appearance at the Carnegie Hall was in 2011, and now he is a regular guest there. An incredible chamber musician and a committed recitalist, Jonathan has made a name as one of the best pianists of the modern day.  He regularly performs in United States and Europe. In US, his major works involve orchestras like Boston Symphony, Chicago Symphony, Metropolitan Opera Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony Orchestras and various others. In Europe, Jonathan has also appeared twice with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, as well as Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Budapest Festival Orchestra and many other popular names in Europe.

According to the magazine The New Yorker, Jonathan Biss performs with "unerring sophistication". Jonathan has also been honored with various awards, including the Leonard Bernstein Award, Wolf Trap's Debut Artist Award and Lincoln Center's Martin E. Segal's Award along with many others. Jonathan was an artist-in-residence on American Public Media's Performance Today. He also has the honor of being the first American ever chosen to participate in the BBC's New Generation Artist Program.

In 2011, with the release of an e-Book, consisting of 19,000 words dedicated to the art of performing Beethoven's piano sonatas, Jonathan elevated to the position of being the first  commissioned classical musician to write a Kindle e-Book. It hit the charts and became the top-selling music e-Book in both the US and the UK. In 2012, the first recording of Jonathan's complete Beethoven Sonatas was released under the banner of Onyx label, titled "Beethoven Sonatas Volume 1". This was the first of nine disks to be released over so much time, and it had four sonatas. In January 2013, the second volume of the series was released, which was equally popular and paved the way further for this rising young star.

Lately, Jonathan Biss has been involved in a project of examining works done by Schumann and bringing them into the limelight. Jonathan believes that Schumann's music is "deeply personal and achingly vulnerable" and hence it is extremely inspiring, particularly to music enthusiasts. He has started a series of concerts under the title of Schumann: Under the Influence, with the idea of bringing to life the composer's legacy. It appears that Schumann's and Jonathan's work tends to follow the same microscopic realities. They both delve deep into poetic, obsessive, fragile, whimsical and evocative fibers of music. To experience the remarkable music that this talented musician produces, get your Jonathan Biss tickets today, and join an extraordinary music experience.
