The band was formed in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2004.  Lead guitarist Bryan Monte Money was the founding member of the band. He added four other members to complete the band. Soon after its formation the band started making appearances at local musical events. This earned them some recognition but their big break came in 2005 after they won a local radio competition. The fortunate contest was judged by none other than the happening alternative rock band My Chemical Romance. As a prize, Escape The Fate got the chance to be included as the opening act for the band. This proved to be a great opportunity for the band and opened many doors for them. Shortly they were signed by the record label Epitaph. The first release of the band was the EP 'There's No Sympathy for the Dead' which further got them attention from fans and record labels. 'Dying Is Your Latest Fashion' was the band's debut album. It charted in top twenty of the US Top Heatseekers. They went on to release two more EPs and four albums.

Staying within the genre of rock, the band has changed its music. Starting as a dark sounding and emo band they later changed towards hard rock music. Their second album 'This War Is Ours' saw their music taking a more mainstream turn. The changed sound of the music earned the band wider recognition. They followed it with their self titled album which proved to be a major success. It charted in the top five albums in Alternative and Independent charts, Rock Albums and Hard Rock Albums charts.  This album again saw the band experimenting with their music.

Rather than having the same sort of music, the band likes to experiment with their sound and style within rock music. Their lyrics are also powerful and heartfelt. The band's single 'Ungrateful' is about bullying. Lyrics for their songs are derived from different aspects of life and touch various topics including indifference towards suffering of others, army personal's being away from their families, suffering and relationships.

They have done a successful tour across Australia where their act got a warm welcome, especially at the Soundwave festival.
