When the progressive rock group 'Crack the Sky' released their hugely successful debut album, they were expected to dominate mainstream music. However, the band took a different road instead and continued with a small yet dedicated fan following. The group's self-titled debut album was released in 1975 and was termed as the "debut album of the year" by the Rolling Stone Magazine. The group has been compared to Steely Dan for its remarkable progressive beats. Crack the Sky's first three albums charted on the Billboard 200. This is your chance to watch this ensemble performing live on stage. Get the Crack the Sky tickets before they are all sold out and become part of their upcoming live performance.
The ensemble came into being as a pentad in the Ohio River Valley in 1975. The front man John Palumbo, guitarists Rick Witkowski and Jim Griffiths, drummer Joey 'Amico and bassist Joe Macre came together to form the band ARCANGEL, which was later renamed as Crack the Sky. Baltimore became the first platform for the band's live performances and still continues to be their main hub of fan following.
From the mid seventies to the late eighties, the group went through several lineup changes. Meanwhile the group released a few recoded albums and continued to perform live shows. Crack the Sky had gained name for its delightful mix of idiosyncratic rock and roll ballads.
The band's debut album, "Crack the Sky", came out in 1975 and spawned cult hits like Ice, She's a Dancer and Hold On/Surf City. The reason behind this album not gaining mainstream success was not the music but the lack of proper promotion. Next year the group released its sophomore record, "Animal Notes". This album also produced some hit songs like Rangers at Midnight and Maybe I Can Fool Everybody (Tonight). "Safety in Numbers" was the third album of the band and also the third consecutive record by Crack the Sky that made it to the Billboard 200. This record showed the band diversifying its range of music and exploring new directions.
The group took their first tour after the release of their third record, and recorded their first live album, "Live Sky" in 1978. After the release of this album the group broke up but soon reunited in 1980. Another album, "White Music" was released. With hit songs like Hot Razors In My Heart and All American Boy, this record renewed fans' interest in the band's music and added to the group's fan following. In 1983 the band broke once again and got back together with a modified lineup in 1986, only to be dispelled in 1990 again.
In 1996, Crack the Sky came together once again with John Palumbo as the vocalist and guitarist, Bobby Hird and Rick Witkowski also as guitarists along with the bass guitarist Dave DeMarco, drummer Joey D'Amico and keyboardist Glenn Workman. These six talented musicians have continued to produce and perform music under the title of Crack the Sky. Since this incarnation of the band, the group has released nine full length albums. The latest record, titled "Ostrich" came out in 2012 and it is the overall fifteenth studio album by the band. This distinguished group is now scheduled to appear at the Rams Head On Stage, Annapolis for a scintillating live performance.
With a delightful repertoire of songs and matchless progressive rock music beats, Crack the Sky promises to bring you an unforgettable live performance. Hurry to grab your Crack the Sky tickets and prepare to become a part of their concert.
