Buckcherry
Buckcherry is a Grammy-nominated Los Angeles, California hard rock band. The group was formed in 1995 and dissolved in the summer of 2002. Older Buckcherry issued two albums: their self-titled debut in 1999 and 2001s Time Bomb.
The original Buckcherry was formed after lead vocalist Josh Todd met lead guitarist Keith Nelson. Upon discovering a common love for AC/DC, the duo made a few demos, while calling themselves Sparrow.Soon they began performing around the Hollywood club scene, receiving a strong, local following due to their old school rock 'n' roll vibe.
Shortly afterwards, Sparrow were signed to DreamWorks Records. Around this time, the group had to change its name to Buckcherry after receiving a cease-and-desist letter from a record label called Sparrow.
They were joined by bassist Jonathan Brightman and drummer Devon Glenn. Buckcherry came up with their self-titled debut in 1999 to critical praise and certified gold sales. Terry Date-produced-album included three modern rock chart hits in Lit Up, Check Your Head, and For the Movies. He band completed its line-up after adding rhythm guitarist Yogi Lonich in 1999.
In support of their debut album, Buckcherry toured nonstop. The band went back into the studio in 2000 to work on a follow-up, 2001s Time Bomb.
Despite combining the rawness of the debut with better production and most focused song writing, in particular on the single Ridin', the ballad You, and the sleazy Porno Star, 2002s Time Bomb, however, didnt get off to a critical acclaim.
In August of 2001 after tension over the musical direction started to set in, Jonathan Brightman left the band. Followed to him were Yogi Lonich and Devon Glenn. However, the remains planned to continue Buckcherry.
In July 2002, though the writing session for their upcoming album was underway, Josh Todd unexpectedly left the band. His departure led to Buckcherry's demise. After a course of three years in 2005, lead guitarist Keith Nelson and lead vocalist Josh Todd formed a new band using the Buckcherry moniker.
Together they released a new album entitled 15 on April 16, 2006. The album contained Buckcherry's biggest crossover hits to date. The two did perform together along with ex-Guns N' Roses members Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum at the Randy Castillo tribute concert.
Keith Nelson went on to write and produce on various records including Capitol records artist Huck Johns single Oh Yeah. On April 15, 2008, Buckcherry announced they would be touring as part of M?tley Cr?e's Cr?e Fest Tour, along with Papa Roach, Sixx:A.M., and Trapt.
They embarked on that tour on July 1, 2008, in West Palm Beach, Florida. The duo did the theme song for Night Calls Radio on Sirius Satellite Radio's Playboy Radio. The song was presented at the beginning of the show.
On September 16, 2008, Buckcherry came up with their fourth album, entitled Black Butterfly. The album debuted at number 8 on the top 200 charts and was the number one rock album the week of its release.
Jonathan Brightman, Buckcherry founding member entered the studio in April 2008 to record a new record with producer Dave Cobb and former Buckcherry members Devon Glenn and Yogi Lonich.
The album is titled Black Robot and it features tracks written & performed by Jonathan Brightman, Devon Glenn, Yogi Lonich, Dave Cobb, and Huck Johns.
The album Black Robot blends musical influences from AC/DC, The Black Crowes, and Led Zeppelin. The executive producer Jonathan Brightmans first Black Robot record is expected in the last quarter of the year 2008.
