Shpongle is a dynamic musical duo that was founded as an electronic music project in UK in the year 1996 by two musician friends. Their music is kind of unique and mainly focuses on genres like psychedelic, down tempo, trance and Goa trance. The duo consists of Simon Posford who belongs to London and is popularly known as hallucination. Raja Ram primarily belongs to Australia and is famous as a session musician who has collaborated with a number of artists and groups, he focuses on electronic funk, jazz and psychedelic rock. Raja Ram is a seasoned artist and apart from Shpongle he has performed with bands and projects like The Infinity Project, The Mystery of the Yeti, Cyberbabas and The Zap. Simon Posford has been active in the music world for since the year 1993. He has visited India a number of times and performed his unique Goa trance music in concerts over there. Posford loves to operate a number of instruments during his shows and therefore he is different from all mainstream psychedelic musicians as he always performs sober without any drugs or alcohol. Shpongle group has worked with popular labels like Twisted Kinetic Records and BMG Records. Raja Ram helps to develop new music concepts for Shpongle and often performs flute on various tracks whereas as Simon Posford takes care of live instrumentation, pre and post production and synthesizing works. The duo on live tours is supported by musicians like bassist Chris Taylor, guitarist Pete Callad, cellist Harry Escot and keyboard player Dick Trevor. There are two vocalists that accompany Shpongle on tours namely Hari Om and Michele Adamson, and there are three also three dancers with the group. It has performed at venues like Tokyo Bay NK Hall in Tokyo, The Roadhouse in North London, Foa Theater in Oakland and Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. Shpongle has performed at festivals like Rainbow Serpent Festival in Australia and Ozora Festival in Hungary.
