Jewel is a famous American singer and songwriter from Homer in Alaska who has been active in the world of music since 1993. She was born in Payson, Utah, growing up in Homer, Alaska in a home without indoor plumbing in the frozen lands of Alaska. She started singing at a young age, at local taverns and bars, going on to learn how to play the guitar at the Interlochen Arts Academy located in the city of Interlochen in Michigan. She went on to become a household name, performing at the Super Bowl, NBA Finals and other famous events. Her second album, Spirit, released in 1998, sold over million copies and ranked third on the Billboard 200 chart. Her 1999 album, Joy: A Holiday Collection, sold more than one million copies.
Her 2001 album, This Way, not only peaked at the top of the Billboard 200 charts but also sold more than one and a half million copies.
