Jamie Cullum was born in 1979 in Rochford, Essex in England. His father is British whereas his mother is of Anglo-Burmese origin. After independence of Burma, Cullum's parents eventually settled in North England. As a kid he went to Grittleton House School and later graduated with flying colors from the University of Reading in Film Studies and English Literature. The very next year Cullum's third album Twentysomething went in music stores. Recorded and released by UCJ Records, this album proved to be a big hit as it earned 3x platinum certification in the UK and sold extremely well in various countries like Germany, France, Denmark, Netherlands, Australia and Austria. Till date Twentysomething remains the highest selling album of Jamie Cullum.

In 2005 Catching Tales was in music stores. This album could not parallel the success of the previous one but still sold well earning a gold certification in the UK. It also entered number of European music charts. Catching Tales reached number four, eleven, three and twenty one respectively on the UK, Australia, Denmark, Netherlands and Swedish charts.

 The Pursuit was the fifth studio album by Cullum that was released under the label of Decca Records. It went gold in Germany and again hit European charts at various positions.
