One such horse racing track worth mentioning is the famous Saratoga race course situated in Saratoga Springs, New York, United States. It is said to be the oldest organized sporting venue of any kind in the United States.

The race course started in the year 1863 in the starting of the month of August and survives till date with exception of the fluctuating weather issues that forced the race course track venue to close down. Interestingly, Saratoga Race Course has two well-known nicknames -- The Spa (for the nearby mineral springs), and the Graveyard of Favorites (for the mishappenings that have occurred there).

Saratoga Race Course is rich with tradition. Surrounded with greenery and having a lake right in the middle of the track which contains a canoe that has become almost an annual ritual to have it painted complimenting the colors of the winning stable. Also a tradition kept alive of ringing a hand bell before the starting of the race i.e. at exactly 17 minutes prior to scheduled post time for each race. Even though this race course track was not the first track it had out done the previous racing track. Speaking of which the first horse race track was the Oklahoma Track and was utilized as the warm ups and training sessions. Oklahoma Track was the original track used for the famous horse racing sport which was passed on to the currently-used race track.

No matter how many race courses are built in U.S, Saratoga will remain to be the race course as one of its kind. With having surrounded by the floral beauty with a lake and of course the rich green ground that carpets the huge area in acres on which the racing journey takes off till it comes to a halt, this race course track will remain to be one that satisfies the need of people visiting the place.
