San Diego State Aztecs
The San Diego State Aztecs is a name of a group of collegiate athletics and sports teams for San Diego State University. San Diego State has very many facilities for the sports like baseball, basketball, American football, golf, gymnastics, association football, tennis, track, softball, rowing (crew), water polo, swimming, diving, and women's volleyball.

It is worth mentioning that The Aztecs generally compete in NCAA Division I (I-A for football). It has a primary conference with the Mountain West Conference.

Even its women's water polo team participates in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and its men's soccer team has the honor of participating in the Associate Member of the Pacific-10 Conference.

The San Diego State campus is commonly known as "Montezuma Mesa," and the same kind of name is carried out for the Aztics, especially in the local media.

The name has a special significance as the university is situated in an overlooking Mission Valley and at the intersection of Montezuma Road and College Avenue in the city of San Diego, California.

The San Diego State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics Team has a clear mission as to provide the student cum athletes, with the finest educational and athletic experience.

They have a passion for the making of the future leaders in sports and in other fields of life. It is to be done with development of core values and work ethics to carry the passion for success, from the classroom, to the outer world for better spirited competition, enabling to make a better society and culture.

The ice hockey team of the university competes in the ACHA with other western region club teams. The university has official colors like scarlet and black. Generally the SDSU's athletic teams have a nickname "Aztecs", and the present mascot is the Aztec Warrior.

There is a great football team of the university. San Diego State is an integral part of the highest level of American collegiate football.

There was a tradition of playing all the local games, by wearing all-black uniforms and red helmets, the matches were usually held at night.

There were times in the past, when it was considered to change the overall appearance of the Aztecs, but it all failed and the reverse steps were taken.

All of the football fans must have known that San Diego State athletics has a very great contribution for the National Football League (NFL). Several of the distinguished NFL head coaches were proud members of the Aztec Football program.

The Aztecs had won the Mountain West Conference basketball tournament in 2002 and 2006, which had earned the automatic bids to the NCAA basketball tournament, although both times the Aztecs lost to strong Big Ten.
