Navy Midshipmen are thirty athletic teams supported by the Naval Academy of the United States. They also support twelve club level teams. Both men and women teams compete in the Division I-A of NCAA and are either called "Navy Midshipmen" or simply "Mids." They are also members of the Patriot League, Collegiate Spring Football League and Division I Football Bowl Subdivision. Navy also has the membership of the Eastern College Athletic Conference. Navy Midshipmen' most famous sports event that is arranged every year is the Army-Navy Game. In the year 2011, Navy won ten consecutive matches against Army. Air Force, Army and Navy compete for Commander-in-Chief's trophy. The trophy is won by the team that wins the football game. Navy Midshipmen's football team competes in the I-A NCAA Division. The team is currently led by Ken Niumatalolo, the head coach who has been with the team for the past six years. The team's home ground is Navy - Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, an outdoor arena near Naval Academy's campus. The college has three coaches. Nineteen of its players are inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame. They won the national championship in 1926. The team's mascot is Bill, the Goat. Recently it was announced that the team will become the Big East Conference' member in the 2015 season.

Navy Midshipmen' basketball team has made appearances in the NCAA tournaments eleven times and has managed to make it to the regional finals in the years 1954 and 1986. The team has won the conference championships six times. The baseball team of Naval Academy is currently a member of the Patriot League, which is National Collegiate Athletic Association's part in Division I. The team's home arena is Terwilliger Brothers Field inside the Marx Bishop Stadium, located in Annapolis. Their current head coach is Paul Kostacopoulos.
