The Indiana State Sycamores are the amazing athletics teams that represent the Indiana State University located at Terre Haute in the state of Indiana. In 1950, the Indiana State Sycamores basketball team won the coveted NAIB National Championship. The basketball team has also qualified for this national championship many times and been the National Runner Up twice in 1946 and again in 1948. The men's basketball team was also the fabled NCAA College Division National Runner Up in 1968 when in Division II and the NCAA Division National Runner Up in 1979 when in Division I. Eight of the basketball team members were part of the team that won the Gold Medal in the Pan American games back in 1951.

The men's gymnastics team also made a name for itself when it participated in the NCAA National Championship in 1977 as well as being the National Runner Up in 1964's NCAA Championships and the women's gymnastics team became the National Runner Up in the 1971 AIAW National Championships. In numbers, the Indiana State Sycamores have bagged around thirty two different national individual championships with twenty one of them won by men and eleven won by women. Sportsmen from the Indiana State Sycamores have won around twenty seven NCAA Individual Titles and five NAIA Individual Titles. The Indiana State Sycamores have hosted nine cross country national championships, an NCAA Gymnastics National Championships and an NCAA Wrestling Championship.
