Florida State Seminoles
The Florida State University's athletic team is divided into male's athletic team and women's athletic team and is known as the Florida State Seminoles. The name Florida State Seminoles is based upon a Native American tribe Seminole, which is why University's team got that name only after the official authorization by the Seminole Tribe of Florida Inc. The women's sports programs include sports like softball, swimming, golf, soccer, cross country running, basketball, track & field, volleyball and tennis. While the Men's sports programs at the university include, track & field, tennis, golf, football, tennis, swimming, cross country running, baseball and basketball. Florida State Seminoles play in the Atlantic Coast Conference and in the NCAA's Division I.

University's Men's Track & Field team has been awarded championship twice, in a row. The team's home track is called Mike Long. It was in 2003, when the track went through complete renovation and since then team saw the birth of a new track that had wider lanes, larger infield area and faster turns along with a new surface. New additions to the track were made back in 2007, in form of establishment of a new three building complex.

Donald L. Tucker center is home to the University's Women's and Men's basketball teams. Florida State University's main campus is also home to two stadiums and an arena. Mike Martin field, which is named after Mike Martin, is home for Seminole Baseball. Mike Martin field is at Dick Howser Stadium that is named after Coach Dick Howser. As for Seminoles basketball, Donald L. Tucker Center is home for Men's and Women's team. With in the Florida State University's main campus premises, an arena and two major stadiums are also located.

At Speicher Tennis Center, which is named after Lieutenant Commander Michael Scott Speicher, H. Donald Loucks courts are the home for Seminoles tennis. As for the Seminole softball, it is played at Seminole Softball complex. With the capacity of holding up to 1600 viewers Seminole Soccer Complex plays home for the Florida State University Women's Soccer. Florida State University's Women's soccer is undoubtedly one of the best women's soccer team nationwide. At the University Women's soccer was added in 1998 and the team appeared for the first time in NCAA tournament in 2000. And ever since then the team has been making its appearance in NCAA tournament every year. Seminoles Women's Soccer team also appeared thrice in the NCAA Women's college cup in the year 2003, 2005 and 2006. And apart from that, the team also made its appearance in the ACC tournament finals in 2001 and 2004.

Football was included in Florida State University's sports program in 1947. And since then with the passage of time Seminoles football team has grown its repute up to being a national championship contender. To date Seminoles football team has won a total of 2 national championships in 1993 and 1999 along with 12 conference championships, which is why team is also considered as the leader of Atlantic Coast Conference.

Seminole's baseball team is no different than its football team, which is why the team has made appearance in 18 College World Series making it one of the most successful teams.
