The modern music scene is subject to a lot of experimentation and dabbling by artists these days. Justice is a duo consisting of Frenchmen, Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay. The duo specializes in electronic music and came on the music scene in 2003. Their initial work consisted of producing remixes of already released tracks by various artists. Their first project revolved around producing tracks for a concept compilation, Musclorvision's "Hits Up To You". Their rise to prominence came in 2003 with their remix of "Never Be Alone" by Simian which was done for a remix contest organized by a local Paris college radio station. The remix became an instant hit on the internet and received a lot of airplay on the radio and in clubs. The song's success was such that it was re-released a year later commercially outside France under a new name "We are Your Friends".

 
Justice at this stage continued its work on remixes which included at first a variety of local French groups like Gambit and Vicarious Bliss. The duo however turned their attention to larger mainstream performers such as Britney Spears, Daft Punk and Fatboy Slim. Their remixes won a lot of acclaim for the band and started giving rise to true international fame for the duo. They continued churning out popular remixes like Franz Ferdinand's "The Fallen" and U2's "Get On Your Boots". However their popularity was not just based upon their remix work, they also experimented with their signature sound and have till today released two studio albums consisting of original songs. "Waters of Nazareth" was the first original single by Justice and was given much airplay in clubs and remixed by various other DJ's. Subsequent well known singles included "D.A.N.C.E" and "Civilization" the latter climbing into the top ten in the French music charts.

 
As recognition of their popularity Justice was nominated and on the receiving end of a number of awards both in France and internationally. The band was nominated for four Grammy Awards and in 2009 won the "Best Remixed Recording: Non Classical" award for their track "Electric Feel". They secured three MTV Europe Music Awards also winning the prominent award the "Best French Act". Their debut album was also nominated for the Shortlist Music Prize which is an award given to the best album released in the United States. Justice has also performed live extensively not just in France but around the world. Their tours have taken them from Belgium and Spain to Australia, Japan and the United States. In 2009 the duo played on New Year's Eve at the Congress Theatre in Chicago with a crowd of over 4000 in attendance.

 
Justice appears to have the right formula as far as being successful is concerned. Though they initially started out with electronic music their sound has grown to incorporate a very distinct and strong rock influence. Distortions and bass slapping that are all hallmarks of rock and heavy metal have been incorporated in their music creating their own unique sound and it seems to have sat well with audiences around the world.

 
The duo continue to tour, promoting their second album titled "Audio, Video, Disco" which came out in October 2011.
