Mason was a part of a rock band "Traffic" which was formed in 1967 and after performing in various places and venues in the country, gathered a huge fan following and became quite famous. For several years the band had an on and off status, until finally in 1994 it disbanded for good. For his efforts and contribution as Traffic's member, he found place on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. Since his stint with the band ended, Dave Mason has been playing solo and 1970 saw the release of his first album. Mason teamed up with a friend Mama Cass Elliot, forming a duo with him in 1970. Together they released a record Dave Mason and Cass Elliot.
