Details of US Open Golf and the Ticket Luck value

US Open Golf
The first U.S. Open Championship was conducted by the United States Golf Association on the nine-hole course of Newport Golf and Country Club on Oct 4, 1895. The first U.S. Amateur championship and the First U.S.

Open championships were played during the same week and on the same course. The championships were to be played in September, but were cancelled because of a more established Newport sports attraction, being the America’s Cup Yacht races.

The U.S.-Open-Golf Championship started in the 36-hole competition, which included four trips around the Newport course in one day. In which ten professionals and one amateur took part.

An English professional who was the assistant at the host course by the name of Horace Rawlins, surprised everyone by scoring 91-82—173 with the gutta-percha ball.

The U.S. Open Championship prize money totaled $335, of which Rawlins won the $150 first prize, and also received a gold medal and custody of the Open Championship Cup for his club for his club for one year.

The U.S. Open Golf Championships catered mainly for the large amount of British immigrant, golf professionals coming to the United States, for its first ten years. But as American players began to gain popularity in the game, the U.S. Open transformed into a prominent world golf championship .

In 1911 and again in 1912 the U.S. Open was won by a young native-born American by the name of John J.McDermott. In 1913, The golf world were stunned when an American amateur, by the name of Francis Quimet, just 20 years old, beat famous English professionals, Harry Vardon and Ted Ray, and the U.S. Open surged ahead.

The U.S. Open championships popularity also coincided with the spectacular career of Georgia amateur Bob Johns, who won the U.S. Open in 1923, 1926, 1929 and 1930.Tickets were sold for the first time in 1922 and a surge in entries resulted in the USGA to introduce sectional qualifying in 1924.

John Goodman became the fifth and last amateur to win the U.S. Open in 1933. The others were Quimet, Jerome D. Travers 1915, Charles Evans Jr. 1916, and Jones.

The U.S Open, with its rigorous training and the players remarkable determination to survive it, has brought out the best of champions like Ben Hogan, which shot him to four victories 1948, 1950, 1951 and 1953.

And, Arnold Palmer made a record win in 1960, when he fired a final round of 65 to come from seven strokes off the lead, and carved a niche, for his dashing image. Jack Nicklaus created a storm when he won the first of his four U.S. Open Championships in 1962, his rookie season as a professional.

He also won in 1967, 1972, and 1980, and is one of only four golfers to win four U.S. Opens. The others are Willie Anderson 1901, 1903, 1904 1905, Hogan and Jones.

In 1954, the U.S .Open, marked the first television national coverage, and it was in that year that the course was roped from tee to green.

In 1977, national television coverage was expanded by ABC Sports, so that all 18 holes of the final two rounds were broadcast live and in 1982, on ESPN cable network, the first two rounds were broadcast live for the first time. NBC began televising the U.S. Open in 1995.

In 1898, the USGA extended the championship to 72 holes, with 36 holes played on each of two days. In 1926, the format was changed to 18 holes played each of two days, than 36 holes on the third day.

In 1965, the present format of four 18-hole daily rounds was introduced for the first time. In 2002, a two-tee Nos. 1 and 10 start was used for the first two rounds. In addition, Bethpage State Park’s Black Course in Farmingdale, N.Y, was the first facility owned by the public to host a U.S.Open.

In 2005, International qualifying sites were added, and the champion at Pinehurst Resort in N,C. was Michael Campbell, who qualified in England. In 2007, United States Open Golf Championship was played at Oakmont Country Club, and was the 107th U.S. Open, and was played from June 14 to June 17.

And it was, the first time in Oakmont, since 1994, when Earnie Els won his first major championship. Angel Cabrera won the championship after Jim Furyk and Tiger Woods were unable to birdie the 72nd hole to force a playoff.

Cabrera’s victory marked the first U.S. Open championship won by an Argentine. The prize was $7.0 million, and Cabrera earned $1.26 million.
