St. Louis Cardinals is Major League Baseball’s professional team currently competing in National League of Central Division. They are known as one of the best teams of MLB and have achieved it all. The franchise was formed in 1880 under the name of “St. Louis Brown Stockings.” Under the management of Charlie Comiskey, the team quickly rose to fame by winning American Association pennants four times in a row. They ended up with a percentage of .705 in 1885 under the captainship of Bob Caruthers. In order to attend an exciting upcoming match by them, grab Louis Cardinals tickets now.
St. Louis Cardinals’ name was changed in 1899 to “Perfectos” changing it to its current “Cardinals” in 1900. The years between 1892 and 1920 were very glorious for the team. They managed to produce only three wins and no World Series. However, 1920 onwards a new era began for the Cardinals as their fortunes changed and the club came under a new ownership. It was bought by the businessman Sam Breadon who instantly made Branch Rickey the general manager. The team improved at a rapid pace after it came under the leadership of Rogers Hornsby. In 1925, they took home the honors of MVP. The next year they won their very first National League pennant.
St. Louis Cardinals continued to win in the 30s. They claimed pennants back to back in 1930 as well as in 1931. In 1934 they won yet another World Series. The World Series of 1944 is especially memorable because in that particular final game Cardinals came face to face with their rivals St. Louis Browns in the tournament titled “Streetcar Series.” The journey full of glory continued for the team and in the coming decades they won a number of awards and recognitions. They were winners of 1985 World Series and became the most dominant team of MLB’s National League.
As of 2006, Cardinals have been playing their home games at the Busch Stadium located in the downtown St. Louis. The stadium is also commonly referred to as “Busch III.” In 2006, the club had won World Series in the same arena; hence it holds golden memories for them as well. The stadium has a seating capacity of 47,399 for baseball. Their logo is made up of two red colored cardinal birds sitting on a baseball bat and their mascot is a huge cardinal wearing the team’s uniform. It is called “Fredbird.”
Till the day, St. Louis Cardinals have managed to take home eleven World Series, eighteen NL pennants, four AA Penants, eight Central Division titles, three East Division titles and three Wild Card Berths.
