From there he started his acting career. He earned some recognition by portraying the role of Jimmy Brooks in a Canadian TV series named Degrassi: The Next Generation. Drake turned towards the music industry in 2005 and started working on his debut album. He released his debut mix tape entitled Room for Improvement in 2006. Drake officially signed a record deal with the Young Money Entertainment in June, 2009, on which his singles 'Best I Ever Had' and 'Every Girl' released. Both the singles charted at #3 and #10 spot in the Top ten respectively, which made Drake the second artist who have accomplished that feat after Nelly Furtado.
