(1943-1965) Early years
Waters was born George Roger Waters in Great Bookham, Surrey near Leatherhead on September 6, 1943. He grew up in Cambridge. While Waters was only five months old, his father Eric Fletcher Waters died while fighting in World War II at Anzio in 1944. Waters would refer or allude to the loss of his father throughout his work, especially on The Final Cut album from 1983 ((which is dedicated to his father)
(1965-1985) Pink Floyd years
Roger Waters was successful in founding Pink Floyd in 1965. He was supported by Syd Barrett, Richard Wright and Nick Mason. Initially, most of the songwriting for the band was done by Barrett. However, On their debut LP, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, the song "Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk" was written by Waters.
(1985-2002) Solo years
Waters embarked on a solo career after his departure from Pink Floyd. Three concept albums and a movie soundtrack was produced by Waters. His solo works were proved to be very much successful. In 2007, Roger Waters is performing on his Dark Side Of The Moon Live tour at Equity Members Stadium, Perth, Australia.
