Details of Anberlin and the Ticket Luck value
Anberlin is an alternative rock band from Winter Haven, Florida, United States. Formed in 2002, their line-up has consisted of lead vocalist Stephen Christian, bassist Deon Rexroat, lead guitarist Joseph Milligan, drummer Nathan Young and rhythm guitarist Christian McAlhaney. The band has released four albums and an EP in their six-year run, selling over 400,000 albums.
Anberlin traces its roots when lead singer Stephen Christian met bassist Deon Rexroat during his school. They formed a Christian punk band called SaGoh 24/7 - Servants after God's own heart.
Drummer Sean Hutson and guitarist Joseph Milligan joined them. The band released two albums, Servants After God's Own Heart in 1999, and Then I Corrupt Youth in 2001 under Rescue Records. Some SaGoh 24/7 songs were reworked to fit the group's new alternative rock style.
After being approached by Tooth & Nail Records, the band members officially created Anberlin in 2002. Barely a year after their formation, the label released their first album entitled Blueprints for the Black Market in 2003).
Aaron Sprinkle-produced-album failed to chart but spurred on by the single 'Readyfuels', thus proved to be sufficiently successful. It sold over 60,000 units.
Through steady touring with other bands in their label and heavy internet promotion, Anberlin was gathering a dedicated fan base early on.
Replacing rhythm guitarist Joey Bruce, Nathan Strayer from The Mosaic took over rhythm guitar duties. Anberlin released their follow up to Blueprints, Never Take Friendship Personal, in early 2005.
The album brought the band a step closer into the mainstream. Never Take Friendship Personal was more well-received by critics than Blueprints for the Black Market, garnering favorable reviews.
The band's third album, Cities, was released in early 2007, selling 34,000 copies in its first week of release. The album debuted at #19 on the Billboard 200 chart, and received fairly positive reviews from critics.
In an interview, Christian commented that the lyrics throughout the band's discography are progressively becoming more mature.
One day before the release of Cities, guitarist Nathan Strayer amicably left the band and went back to The Mosaic. Christian McAlhaney took over as the new guitarist.
Anberlin spent five years signed with independent record label Tooth & Nail Records. After the success of their first three studio albums, Anberlin announced to sign major label Universal Republic Records in 2007. The band's first album on a major label was released on September 30, 2008, entitled New Surrender.
The band released a compilation album of unreleased content, called Lost Songs in 2007. The album features B-sides, demos, covers, and acoustic versions of their previous songs as well as other tracks recorded at AOL Sessions.
The band signed to Universal Republic Records on August 16, 2007, and then began working on major-label debut that was released in 2008.
The first song heard from the new album was titled 'Bittersweet Memory'. On July 11, 2008, the group came up with a second new song called 'Disappear'.
In support of the album, the band set up a live webcam in the studio so fans may watch them record the album via the band's MySpace page. New Surrender was placed at the number two on Jesus Freak Hideout's 25 Most Anticipated Albums of 2008.
