Grinch Opens the Holiday Season with a National Tour

There’s probably no child or adult who doesn’t know this famous line – “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch!”.

Dr. Seuss’s all-time favorite holiday tale has seen many versions, from books to multiple movies, to stage adaptation all over the world. No amount of fun and festivities can get grumpy mean Grinch into holiday spirit. Teased as a child, Grinch became bitter with time and displays a rather hostile and pessimistic personality. Despite living in Who-ville, a small town where everyone had hearts as sweet as sugar pops, Grinch was unable to change his opinion about Christmas. Each year he would be determined to spoil the season for all the people in town, with the help of his sidekick, Max the dog.

What Evil Ideas Did Grinch Have to Ruin Christmas in Who-ville?

Everything that Grinch does in the musical is symbolic and has special meaning for the people who celebrate this festive occasion.

  • Playing truant around the town, he steals presents from each and every house, take away stockings, and even destroy holiday mean prepared by the town people. He literally steals Christmas from the residents of Who-ville.
  • Grinch made sure that people suffered as he would crush children’s snowmen, made them trip in the snow, ruined their decorations, and spoiled Christmas feast.
  • Who-ville has been depicted as a place of goodness in all forms of story. Whether you’ve read the book, watched the movies, or attended the theater version, you’ll always find the residents of the town celebrating Christmas for joy and happiness it brought, not the presents or trappings. According to the famous line, “Christmas doesn’t come from a store”, it shows that holiday season is about love, happiness, sharing, and spreading joy.

Grinch Not Just Steals Things But Also Hearts

A mean one no doubt, but Grinch is also a charmer who manages to lure in audiences to theaters all across the country. Wicked, funny, and smart, he also manages to show vulnerability when young Cindy Lou Who manages to take him out of his solitude. Her kindness and empathy allows Grinch to experience Christmas beyond the material things and take in the true spirit of the holiday. Grinch the musical gives out an important message that time is the most precious gift and instead of getting caught up in the hustle bustle of material things, spend time with your loved ones.
