WWE Tlc, which stands for Tables, Ladders and Chairs, is one of the most watched events staged by the WWE. It is one of the several high profile, popular events this wrestling promotion and federations holds each year. The 2012 event was attended by nearly sixteen thousand people, live, and was held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York City. The feud drew back from when Ryback was unable to grab the WWE title at the Hell in the Cell match and thus took part in a triple threat Survivor Series match, facing John Cena and CM Punk for the WWE title.

The Survivor Series match was, however, disrupted by a group of wrestlers dubbed The Shield, who powerbombed Ryback. As a result, Ryback was unable to win the title and The Shield had also earned the enmity of Team Hell No, made up of WWE wrestling titan, Kane and his partner. During a match right before the main TLC match, a brawl between The Miz, The Shield and Team Hell No saw Ryback powerbomb CM Punk, who had to undergo surgery. As a result, he couldn't compete in the TLC match and thus the format of the upcoming TLC match was changed, in what became one of the most exciting matches ever held.

The 2012 TLC match was one of the most exciting moments in the WWE, that year became a Six Man tag team match. On one side, Ryback with Team Hell No and on the other, Reigns, Rollins and Ambrose, the three wrestlers who made up The Shield contested. This match was different from other TLC matches as the winner of the match was to be decided by submission or pinfall, with the original match between Ryback and CM Punk to take place in 2013.

In 2013, a historic match is also set to take place, between John Cena and Randy Orton, with the World Heavyweight Championship and the WWE Championship on the line in a TLC match, for which many have already purchased WWE Tlc tickets.
