Wichita Thunder is a minor league ice hockey team that is based in Wichita, Kansas. This team was founded in 1992 along with five other teams namely Dallas Freeze, Forth Wirth Fire, Oklahoma City Blazers, Memphis RiverKings and Tulsa Oilers. Together these six teams formed the Central Hockey League. Wichita Thunder play in the Central Hockey League's Berry conference. The team is owned by Rodney Steven, Brandon Steven and Johnny Steven. Joel Lomurno is the general manager whereas head coach is Kevin McClelland. The home stadium of the team is Intrust Bank Arena that is situated on 500 East Waterman Street in Wichita. This venue can seat up to 15000 spectators.

The current captain of Wichita Thunder is Andrew Martens and other team members include Jesse Dudas, Jon Booras, Matt Robinson, Jared Walker, Ian Lowe, Torrie Jung, John Griggs, RG Flath and Burke Gallimore. Apart from Ray Miron cup this team has also won three regular season titles and one conference championship. Some other popular wins to their name are William Levin Memorial Cup, Adams Cup, Ken McKenzie Trophy, Joe Burton Award and Rick Kozuback Award.  Two coaches of Wichita Thunder have been given Coach of the Year title and they are Doug Shedden and Kevin McClelland.

Ron Handy won the Playoff Most Valuable Player Award for two seasons in a row. Joe Blaznek was named All-Star Game Most Valuable Player (North) in 2005-06. Three players of Wichita Thunder have been awarded Rookie of the Year title and they are Cory Dosdall, David Beauregard and Robert Desjardins. Most Outstanding Defenseman title has been given to three players and they are Paul Esdale, Kevin Young and Andrew Marten. Jason Duda won the Rick Kozuback Award in 2009-10.
