Providence Friars are a part of every sport organized by Big East Conference, Hockey East and America East Conference.
 
Providence Friars contains men and women athletic teams. They have a total of 19 sport teams, eleven women, and eight men teams. The teams for men include Basketball, Ice Hockey, Soccer, Swimming and Diving, Lacrosse, Track and Cross Country. Additionally, Cross Country, Softball, Soccer, Field Hockey, Swimming and Diving, Track, Tennis, Basketball and Volleyball are the athletic teams for women. Football, Golf and Baseball were also included in the list of Providence Friars initially but were dropped later. The Lacrosse league was created under Big East conference, the Providence Friars lacrosse team has joined new lacrosse league now. Before joining the league, they had participated in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference as well.
 
The athletic teams of Providence College have competent players that are certainly going to give you a thrilling show. Friars have played against many athletic teams of other educational organizations and won a streak of games. Their passion and performance is commendable in the field. The biggest challengers of Providence Friars are Boston College and Boston University for the games of hockey, basketball, swimming and diving and soccer.  Their matches with Boston are always a must watch game for fans.
 
Except for the men’s basketball, all the games are played on-campus. The Dunkin’ Donuts Center is the men’s basketball home court, whereas, women’s basketball home court is Alumni Hall. Friars have also got Canavan Sports Medicine Center and some administrative offices to manage the teams. Adjacent to the Alumni Hal, Taylor Natatorium is located for its men’s and women’s athletic teams of swimming and diving. Schneider Arena was opened for the ice hockey teams for both men and women. Glay Field and the Raymond Field are the soccer and softball home fields respectively. All of its venues are prime choice for sports lovers.
 
Providence Friars has a long athletic success story. In the recent years, Providence Friars have been among the top ranked teams. Its men’s basketball, field hockey, men’s and women’s ice hockey and women’s cross country are included in the Top 20 Nationwide Sports Teams. Women’s cross country team was in NCCA Championship and Men’s basketball team has won the Hockey East Championship. Men’s and women’s basketball teams have also won trophies and NCCA title game numerous times. They have also won Big East and East Conference Titles.
