Duke University's sports team, more popularly known as the Blue Devils or the Duke Blue Devils, is one of the most successful college teams competing in the Atlantic Sports Conference. There are twenty six teams that comprise the Blue Devils, varying over a wide range of sports. Their main sporting rivals are the Tar Heels of the University of South Carolina, with whom they have had a long sporting history.

The team has won a total of thirteen NCAA National Championships. Their women's golf team has been the most successful, capturing a total of five NCAA championships, followed by the basketball team with four, and the lacrosse team with two. The Blue Devils football team has had many ups and downs. Since the team's inception, they have won seventeen conference titles, seven ACC titles and 10 Southern Conference titles. However in recent years, the team has not performed that well, not having won a title since 1994 and not being bowl eligible. However in 2012 that changed as they beat their rivals North Carolina 33-30 and became eligible to play in bowl once again. The Blue Devils play their home matches at the Wallace Wade Stadium.

The varsity's basketball team has been a major force amongst college teams. It has won an impressive four NCAA Championships, which is the fifth highest haul in the competitions history. They also have the best NCAA winning percentage. Eleven players have been named National Player of the Year, whereas seventy one Duke players have gone on to play in the NBA.  The team has won the ACC Championships a record nineteen times and has finished the season ranked as number one seven times, which is the second only to UCLA. As a result of its massive success it has been named by ESPN as the most prestigious college basketball program in the country.

While the basketball team gets the most recognition, it is the woman's golf team that has been the most successful. It was won a staggering seven NCAA titles and thirteen consecutive ACC championships from 1995 to 2008. From 2000 to 2005 Duke's winning percentage was an amazing 94 percent with only three losses. Two players from the woman's golf team have also been runners up in the prestigious Woman's U.S. Open.

The university has also enjoyed comparative success in other sports as well. The lacrosse team is now becoming a major contender for the title and has one two NCAA crowns. Similarly the men's soccer team has enjoyed success too and has one NCAA title in the bag. In 2009, the women's table tennis team carved inroads in the table tennis competition by winning the NCAA title against all odds.
