Bucknell Bison refer to the athletic teams of the Bucknell University located in Pennsylvania, United States. The Bison belong to the Patriot League while representing the Division I sports, Division I-AA in football. There are twenty-five teams altogether; twelve men's and thirteen women's sports teams. Football, basketball, baseball, golf, soccer, swimming & diving, and water polo are to mention a few.
 
Without a shadow of doubt, the Bison have been the pride of the Bucknell University as their achievements over the years are a concrete proof of it. The year 1935 is one of the standout years to begin with. The Bison earned their first Orange Bowl victory by defeating University of Miami by 26-0. In 2005 men's basketball team made headlines as they emerged as underdogs and beat the University of Kansas while placing 64-63. For the Bison, 2003 was the year of golden glory as they became the talk of the town by earning men's and women's Patriot League Swimming Championship in the same season. Thus, history was made at the Kinney Natatorium. Gonzalo Diaz, Michael Guskey, Stelios Saffos, Rebecca Dolan and Darby Golino are a few among the players that made their presence known during the season. The year 2005 saw another string of wins and walked away with the honor of "Best Upset" at ESPY Awards. The winning spree continued in 2006 as the Bison again ended up victorious against Syracuse University, DePaul University, and Saint Joseph's. Consequently the team finished in 24^th spot in the national rankings claimed the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today. This was the first time the Bucknell Bison had entered the national rankings, becoming the Patriotic League's first men's basketball team to have found a place in the rankings since the inception in 1990. The same year they defeated Arkansas Razorbacks and placed 59-55.
 
However, they lost to Memphis in the second round. Despite that, the team ended the regular season ranking at twenty-five in the ESPN poll. In the 2006-07 season, the Bison narrowly missed winning the Patriot League Championship. Even though they trumped George Mason, one of the strongest teams, the Bison failed to outdo Holy Cross. Furthermore their loss was overcome by the Bucknell men's soccer team which bagged the Patriot League Championship in 2006. After beating Lehigh the Bison advanced to the NCAA Soccer tournament. They confronted George Mason in the first round but bowed down to Virginia.
 
The list of accomplishments does not end here as the year 2006 brought another Patriot League Championship through Bucknell women's rowing team. Also, the Lightweight Women swept the sixth place at National Championship IRA Regatta. The next year, the Lightweight eight also fetched championship at the IRA.
