The team has been home to several famous hockey players such as the Hall of Famer Harry Lumley and Ab DeMarco, the National Hockey League alumni. The Colts have had many memorable moments in the league, such as the 2009-2010 season where they dominated the other teams by winning twenty two consecutive games. Apart from this, the Barrie Colts have also been greatly successful in the Eastern Conference championship trophy known as the Bobby Orr Trophy. Named in honor of the Canadian hockey Hall of Famer, Robert "Bobby" Orr, the Colts have won the trophy on four separate occasions, more than any other team in the competition.
