Toro Y Moi was born in 1986 as Chazwick Bradley Bundick. His birth place is Columbia, South Carolina. Moi's father is African- American whereas his mother is a Filipino. Moi started taking interest in music from a very young age, by the time he was in high school he formed an indie rock bad with his classmates, the name of the band was The Heist. Moi graduated from university with a degree in graph design. During this time he continued to pursue his passion of music and soon joined hands with a chillwave artist named   Ernest Greene who worked under the name Washed Out. Moi collaborated with Greene on one of his singles called "Feel It All Around". Toro Y Moi since then has diversified his music interests and records songs in genres like chillwave, indie rock, synthpop and funk. Since debut he has an exclusive recording agreement with Carpark Records.
 
In 2009 Moi joined hands with Carpark Records and the very next year he released his debut album called Causers of This. This album contained eleven tracks mainly pop and electronic such as "Blessa", "Fax Shadow", "Thanks Vision", "Freak Love" and "Low Shoulder". The album failed to chart but did receive positive reviews from critics as well as general audience. In 2011 Moi released his second studio album Underneath the Pine. This was a slightly different album as it included some aspects of neo-pyschedelia and progressive rock. This too was not able to chart despite getting good reviews. In 2012 Moi released his first compilation album titled June 2009.
 
Anything in Return is the latest studio album by this fine artist that was released in early 2013. This was the first ever album by Mori that entered various US charts. It raced to #1 on US Dance/Electronic Albums, landed at #9, #14 and #60 on US Independent, Alternative and Billboard respectively. It also entered the Belgian Albums Chart at #190. Anything in Return was released in UK, US and Germany by Carpark Records whereas in Australia it was released by Misletone Records. Some of the popular singles by Moi are "Left Alone at Night", "I Will Talk to You /For No Reason", "Sides of Chaz" and "So Many Details". He has collaborated with artists like Tegan and Sara, Fanfarlo, The Long Cut, Neon Indian and Tyler The Creator.
