Everybody loves music that touches one's soul. Joe is a singer who switched from gospel singing coming under the influence of soul legends like Stevie Wonder. Both of his parents were preachers, hence he practiced a lot of singing in church and played guitar. In church, stars like The Winans, Commissioned and Vanessa Bell Armstrong impressed him. His real inspiration came from Marvin Gaye in addition to modern stars like Bobby Brown and Keith Sweat.

Joe took up singing and writing music when he passed from high school while holding working part time at some places. He decided to move to New Jersey, to make contacts in the music industry. There he met a music producer and recorded some demo songs for him. During that time, he was working at a gospel record store while also going through a music course in a local church. He associated himself with Polygram/Mercury and in the year 1993, he made a debut with his first album Everything. He went to achieve success after success with songs like All the Things Your Man Won't Do, Don't Wanna Be a Player, The Love Scene and he also remixed a song by Barry White and Tina Turner Never in your dreams. Joe performed the track Thank God I Found You with Mariah Carey which was a number one hit on Billboard Hot 100. The song appeared on her Rainbow album. The number was a huge success worldwide and brought Joe recognition in rest of the world as well.

Joe's third album My Name Is Joe was his most popular album with sales crossing three million copies. This album also broke all barriers and his name started being known more in other countries. Joe teamed up with Mariah Carey in 2002 again and did a remix of Through the Rain from one of her albums. His track God's Work appeared on Jive Records. He has now associated himself with Kedar entertainment/Universal and is all set to release two albums. His album Joe Thomas, New Man hit the market in September 2008. Signature is also one of his ventures that are due to come out in the market in June 2009. Currently he is working on a record with singer Ayoade Adeyinka.
