Bamboozle
The Bamboozle festival is the first big outdoor event of the year, and it takes place in early May. The annual weekend-long Bamboozle festival is celebrated to signify the start of New Jersey?s summer rock-concert season.
Every rain-or-shine, two-day music festival, new bands compete for spots during the two days.Since 2006, The summer festival has grounded itself outside Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Each year, over one hundred music groups play for two days over the course of the first weekend in May.
The Bamboozle showcases dozens of the smallest, unsigned bands on nine stages, as well as amusement park rides, standup comedy and other attractions.
Beginning around noon and ending near midnight, the festival is normally held in a humid affair. The festival also features many different characters within the festival planning. Some of these characters are real people with false identities.
These people work to plan, organize and operate the festival, while others are completely fictional. The fictional characters serve as a means to give the public clues as to who may be playing at The Bamboozle.
There is a character called Linc who likes to leak information to the public about the Bamboozle. Linc loves the children?s show Bob the Builder, Mater from the pixar film Cars, and playing hide and seek; and talking in riddles and baby talk is his catch. The Bamboozle?s festival reporter is Scoop who shares the latest news about the festival in the Bamboozle chatroom.
Launched in Asbury Park in 2003, the Bamboozle festival has been at the Meadowlands since 2006. The festival main attraction is featuring rock bands, though rapper Snoop Dogg was a natural choice to close on this year.
Over the past 15 years, Snooper has had huge crossover hits such as ?Gin and Juice? and ?Drop It Like It?s Hot?, and crossed over to the movies and television. The Bamboozle Festival 2005 held on April 29 through April 30 and May 1.
The event played host to over 150 bands including Say Anything, A Static Lullaby, Hidden in Plainview, Senses Fail, Further Seems Forever, Fall out Boy, Daisy Haze, Small Towns Burn Slower, The Fight, Jamison Parker, Moneen, Gatsby American Dream, Big D and the Kids Table, Armor For Sleep, Catch 22, All American Rejects, Bouncing Souls, Alkaline Trio, Scatter the Ashes, Ben Nichols of Lucero, Say Anything, Let it Burn, The Explosion, Halifax, Gym Class Heroes, Days Away, Jinxed, Punchline, Mike Park, Plain White T?s and many.
A new twist was brought in coming years of the festival. This was mainly an area devoted to non-musical attractions such as carnival rides, batting cages and a dunking booth.
During an interview, Bamboozle promoter John D?Esposito said that a lot of their bands that a lot of people deem indie, or emo, are now crossing over to the musical pop charts.
The company prime purpose is to promote bands people are unheard of. Today it has bands like Cartel who are now dominating Top 40 radio station.
The Bamboozle was big in the year 2007 but it was even bigger in 2008.In 2008, some new attractions were added to the Bamboozle festival grabbing record number of people over. The Bamboozle Roadshow and a new festival called The Hoodwink were the latest main attraction.
The Bamboozle Roadshow took place March 28th through May 10th, stopping at small venues across America. The Roadshow would feature several acts selected by The Bamboozle staff.
The Hoodwink was scheduled for May 2nd, one day before the Bamboozle, in the Giants Stadium Parking lot in East Rutherford. In addition, The Bamboozle Left was held for the second time in 2008, at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater is Irvine, California.
