She was the founding member of the group named, “The Braxtons.”Tamar formed the R&B group with her sisters Trina, Toni, Traci and Towanda. The five-member sibling group released the single Good Life in 1990. The single reached the Billboard charts at number seventy nine.
Traci and Tony moved on shortly afterwards. The Braxtons, now consisting of three sisters, then released “So Many Ways” via Atlantic Records in 1996. The album spawned singles like The Boss, Slow Flow, Only Love and So Many Ways. The remix of their Diana Ross cover single The Boss, reached the top of the Billboard charts.
Signing with DreamWorks Records, Tamar moved on to pursue a solo career in 2000. She released her self-titled album, the same year. The album spawned singles like If You Don't Wanna Love Me and Get None. Her solo career however had a very slow start. Her debut album ranked at number one hundred and twenty seven on the Billboard200.
Despite that modest start, Tamar stayed determined. The Braxton sisters were seen together years later on the reality show called “Braxton Family Values” presented by WE tv. Tamar re-united with her sisters in 2011 for the show. The show kicked off with a bang. It was rated as the number one reality show on the channel. Given the success of the show, the network announced a second season after the third episode. The second season featured thirteen episodes.
Tamar has worked on numerous distinct solo projects over the years. She has come out with three studio albums, one extended play, seven music videos and seven singles for her fans.
