The Red Hot Chili Peppers is the best known funk rock band to have emerged from the United States. Winners of seven Grammy Awards, the band has sold well over 65 million records worldwide. The band's singles have dominated music charts, not just in the US but in the rest of the world as well. Twelve songs of The Red Hot Chili Peppers have reached the very top of the Alternative Songs chart, which is a record. Five of their songs have reached position no. 1 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and another nine songs have made it to the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. With such impressive track record, it is no wonder than that their fans eagerly wait for fresh stuff from them, which is about to release soon in the form of I'm with You.
The band originally hails from Los Angeles, California and was formed by four high school friends, Jack Irons (drums), Michael Flea Balzary (bass guitar), Hillel Slovak (lead guitar) and Anthony Kiedis (rapper). Out of the founding members, Kiedis and Flea are still with the band, in addition to Josh Klinghoffer (lead guitar) and Chad Smith (drums), who now form the band. A major record label company, EMI, signed a contract with them early in their career and soon after their debut self-titled album was released. The Red Hot Chili Peppers would earn them fame more than fortune, although it did sell 300,000 copies. The band's debut album dominated mostly college radio stations and MTV did its part to get the band nation-wide fame. If their debut album got them fans and fame, their fifth album, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, won them fortune.
Released in 1991, the album sold over 15 million records worldwide and also won a Grammy in 'Best Hard Rock Performance with Vocal' category. The album had unforgettable singles like, Suck My Kiss, Breaking the Girl, Under the Bridge and Give It Away. This last single has also become the band's signature song, which they have performed to perfection at different venues like 1993 Grammy Awards ceremony alongside George Clinton & the P. Funk All-Stars. The Red Hot Chili Peppers would go on to release ever more successful albums like Californication, By the Way, Stadium Arcadium, along with their latest album, I'm with You, which are praised by their critics and loved by their fans
