History of this band dates back to the time when Kirstin 'Kirstie' Maldonado, Scott Hoying and Mitch Grassi were studying together in Arlington, Texas at the Martin High School. All of them shared the love for music and it was the time when they decided to pursue their career in this field. Later on, when they were stable in the studies they tried for The Sing-Off and got selected in the auditions. Encouraged by the success Scott convinced Kirstin Maldonado and Mitch Grassi to join in as well.

Pentatonix has been the winner of The Sing-Off's 3^rd Season during November 2011. It was broadcast on NBC. The band sang Eye of the Tiger that is a legendary a cappella music arrangement. The original performance of the arrangement was done by Survivor the band. It was their victory song. Pentatonix won the prize money of $200,000 and a recording contract with Sony. After that initial success, the band never look back and till today they are committed to give their best to the audience.

Their debut EP was named as PTX Vol. 1 which was an instant hit. The EP got position at No.14 on the famous Billboard 200 charts. They also released an EP for Christmas with the title, PTXmas. It was such a hit among fans that it got 1^st position on the iTunes Holiday Albums chart. Their work is always worth your time, so make sure you are not missing out on their upcoming concert.
