Paul Kalkbrenner is both an actor and an electronic musician hailing from Berlin, Germany. To date, he has more than fifteen years of experience as a live performer and a producer. He dreamt of being a musician from a very young age; the early 1990's was a critical time period for him. He financed the kick start of his music career through his job as a TV editor. Kalkbrenner had already decided by this time that he did not want to follow the career path of most DJs and play the music of other artists; rather, he wanted to play his own music. The two discussed the idea and started work on the screenplay soon afterwards. Paul Kalkbrenner worked on the soundtrack production for half a year in France with his friend Sascha Funke. He returned to Berlin in 2007 and the shooting for the film began. The final product was released in 2008. The film was very much appreciated as was Kalkbrenner's acting. Also, because of the accurate way in which the drug culture and the clubs of Berlin were shown, the film became a classic. 
 
The soundtrack of the film was a tremendous success. In particular, the track 'Sky and Sand' was a huge hit and it broke many records. The single was so successful that it got the title of Gold in Belgium and it also topped the charts. The release of this film on DVD introduced Paul Kalkbrenner to a much wider audience and resulted in his fame spreading to audiences all over the world.
 
He parted ways with BPitch after a ten year relationship and managed the remaining part of his career on his own. He went on a tour to twelve cities in Europe in 2010, performing live concerts.
