Lincoln Symphony Orchestra Tickets
Lincoln Symphony Orchestra (LSO) not only entertains the audiences but also aims at educating them through symphonic music. Since its inception in 1927 the orchestra has delivered countless unforgettable performances that helped it grow in stature and acclaim. An Evening with Maestro Polochick & Friends, Classics By Request, An Evening with Beethoven, One Thousand and One Nights, The Four Seasons, Lemony Snicket and Cirque de la Symphonie are to mention a few. LSO's history traces back to the time when it was known by the name of Lincoln's Little Symphony Orchestra. Back then it was a small group of local musicians who set out on a journey to bring the importance of symphonic music to light. This group of people kept going even when the great depression struck United States. Since Lincoln was a "community of education, culture and art" having an orchestra was a must. Since LSO has earned a reputation for delivering notable performances the upcoming event cannot be given a miss. Buy Lincoln Symphony Orchestra tickets to become part of it.
LSO has always managed to capture attention when it comes to its performances or the people it has worked with. Steven Allen, Tony Bennett, Robert Shaw, Isaac Stern, Renee Fleming and Aaron Copland are among the musicians that have made their presence known in the past. The orchestra gave its first ever performance in 1927 with Rudolf Seidl as its conductor. During 1930s the orchestra was seen focusing more on entertaining and educating school children as it started arranging programs and concerts to fulfill its mission. Today the orchestra continues to reach out to children through LSO's Annual Young People's Concerts. Over the course of time the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra saw many conductors come and go. During 1940s Leo L Kopp took over as the conductor and served for thirty years. During his tenure Lincoln Symphony Foundation came to the forefront with a mission of keeping the company afloat. Later in 1975, LSO saw its sixth conductor, Dr. Robert Anders Emile. He was also considered as an integral part of the orchestra. Bridging the two organizations; LSO and University of Nebraska Symphony Orchestra is considered as one of his best decisions.
In 1999's on Valentine's Day a breakthrough performance was given by LSO as it joined hands with Lincoln Community Playhouse, the Lied Center for Performing Arts and the Lincoln Community Foundation. Thus bringing to the table a combination of dance, music and theater while presenting a Romantic Rhapsody. This event opened to an overwhelming response making it as one of the most successful productions. Another notable concert came around in 2000 when a collaboration with Nebraska Game & Parks Commission and Nebraska Educational Telecommunications brought forth Nebraskaland. This concert featured a video documentary shedding light on how the war and depression took its toll on the people and what Nebraska had to offer in terms of beauty and diversity. The year 2002 marked the expansion of LSO's family series. Today in order to reach out to as many families as possible the orchestra organizes two family series concerts every year at low prices. 2006's July 4th concert was another achievement as the orchestra brought to its fans a free community concert at Oak Lake Park. In 2008 the performance with a classic rock band, Kansas also drew attention. Since LSO is all set to make headlines again at the forthcoming event Lincoln Symphony Orchestra tickets are a must have.
