Belonging from Red Bank, New Jersey, United States, Kevin Smith graduated from Henry Hudson Regional High School in Highlands. Following his departure from high school, he went to the New School. Later, he attended the Vancouver Film School, majoring in film. However, he did not complete his graduation, dropping out in order to work on his own film.
