Kenny Babyface Edmonds
Kenneth Brian Edmonds, also known as Babyface is R&B singer and song writer. Kenneth brain born on 10 April, 1958 in Indianapolis, Indiana, is also a guitar and key board player along with that he is also a record and movie producer and an entrepreneur. In his early age Edmonds was a rather shy one, hence he used to pour out his expressions and feelings in the form of lyrics. His career as a musician started off when he played for the very first time with Bootsy Collins. It was Collins who nicknamed Edmonds, The BabyFace, which remained Edmond's middle name throughout his life.
Edmonds played with quite a number of bands. One of them was Manchild, with which he made a song called Especially for you which was a big 1977's hit. He played with another band called Midnight star. 1983's hit Slow Jam was co-wrote by Edmonds and the Midnight star and that came out to be the biggest break for Edmonds as an R&B songwriter. Though that song didn't make it on music charts but still was highly appraised by the fans and is considered one of the great classics in its genre. . During 1980's he also wrote songs for the singers like Paula Abdul, Bobby Brown, Pebbles and Karyn White. In the meantime, Edmonds joined the funk band called The Deele and remained in the group up till 1988, after that he and another of the groups member Reid left the group.
After Edmonds and Reid left the Deele, they both joined forces and co-founded a record company called LaFace records. The first two artists that Laface signed were Toni Braxton and TLC. Both of them were a big success making record sales of their albums. Toni Braxton's album called Eponymous, released back in 1993, sold more then 8 million units and she won a Grammy award for that. As for TLC's album Oooooooohhh ? on the TLC tip and CrazySexyCool also made the record sales and the later one won them a Grammy award for best R&B album in 1996.
Apart from LaFace records, Edmonds also gave music, produced or wrote the songs for a number of famous singers. Some of the hits that stood number one on music charts like, End of the Road and I'll make love to you by Boyz II Men's and take a bow by Madonna, were also written by Edmonds. He also composed or wrote music for a number of famous artists, some of those musicians include Michael Jackson, Toni Braxton, Shola Ama, Janet Jackson, Pink and Mariah Carey etc.
In 1990's, Edmond moved on from just being a co-founder of a record label. He and his wife Tracey Edmond opened up a production house named Edmonds Production Company and produced movies like Soul Food released in 1997 and Jossie and the Pussy cats in the year 2001.
4 Years later after the release of the Jossie and the pussy cats, Babyface and Tracey ended their thirteen year old marriage in October, 2005.
Edmond's most recent album came on 18 September 2007, with the name of The Play list. Album featured the following cover songs that were, Bob Dylan's Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Dan Fogelberg's Longer, Dave Loggin's Please Come To Boston, Bread's Diary, Jim Croce's Time In A Bottle, Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight and James Taylor's Fire & Rain and Shower The People and 2 of his own original tracks that were Not Going Nowhere and The Soldier Song.
