Son of the santoor player, Shivkumar Sharma, Rahul Sharma has been playing santoor and singing since a very young age. By the age of thirteen, Rahul had mastered playing both, the harmonium and santoor. He soon began to accompany his father on live shows and by the time he entered his twenties, he had already released a live album, Music of the Himalayas. The record skyrocketed in just a few weeks, earning young Rahul immediate fame and success throughout the classical music fraternity. By the early 2000s, he became a sought after concert artist, releasing a variety of solo and collaborative albums.
