Born in 1969, Emerson Hart was brought up in New Jersey. Emerson Hart is known to the world as a producer, vocalist, songwriter and guitarist. This multi-talented musician is the lead singer and songwriter for the alternative rock band Tonic. Hart played a vital role in their first release, Lemon Parade, a multi-platinum hit. The album featured popular singles written by Hart including "Open Up Your Eyes" and "If You Could Only See". The former was written in collaboration with Jeff Russo. The latter on the other hand was a radio hit in 1997 that was called the most frequent rock song to be played on radio. The band came out with their next album, You Wanted More in 1999. Their third LP, Head On Straight was released in 2002,
The band has received two Grammy nominations as well in 'Best Rock Performance by Duo or Group with Vocal' and 'Best Rock Album' categories. Hart also co-wrote the song "Almost Perfect" for Ingram Hill. The track made its way to the Hot AC chart and ranked amongst top 25. The songs "I Wish The Best For You" and "If You're Gonna Leave" ranked at number 24 and 19 respectively on the Billboard charts. Hart has also won the ASCAP award for the theme song "Generation" in the "Best Theme Song of Television" category. It was written for the NBC series American Dreams.
Hart made his sole debut with the album titled Cigarettes and Gasoline. The single "Cigarettes and Gasoline" is an autobiography that has nostalgia with a tinge of hope. The single "Green Hills Race for California" is a heart wrenching yearning for his friends and loved ones whereas "Vanity" focuses on the future. Faced with a dilemma of running away from love or towards it he presents "Run To" and "Devastation Hands". Released by Manhattan records, the album is a magnificent production. It features a bouquet of stirred arrangements that includes stimulating power ballads, radiant acoustic pieces and catchy pop numbers.
The second Emerson Hart album, titled Beauty in Disrepair is releasing this spring season. Radio stations in numerous markets of the US have received the debut single "Best That I Can Give" for airplay. With this album, Hart focuses on the beauty of rebirth, newfound love and family. This album is an inscription of a turning point in Hart's career. He says that the focal part of the album was finding the beauty in healing. He says, "Learning from the hurt and moving forward. I've done that".
