City Center
The City Centre at Las Vegas is one of the most fundamental construction projects of the US. Being built at the Las Vegas Strip, in the area of Paradise Nevada, this complex covers up to 76 acres of Las Vegan land on the Harmon Avenue.
Ranging to a budget of more than $11 billion, the City Centre complex is going to be the most costly project in the history of United States.
The complex comprises of six skyscrapers including the Las Vegas Boulevard, the CVS pharmacy, Monte Carlo Resort and Casino, Interstate 15, the Bellagio and the Cosmopolitan Resort and Casino.
All six buildings will constitute an ultra modern urban city which will have its own fire station, an on-site power plant and a vast space for pedestrians. As planned in the construction map, the City Centre project will be connected to Monte Carlo Hotel and Bellagio all the way through a tram or a people mover system.
Design and Architecture
The site where the City Centre complex is being constructed, was the former spot for Boardwalk Hotel and Casino, the vast parking lot for Bellagio" employees and some other aloof commercial buildings. All three constructions were demolished to create space for the vast City Centre.
The City Centre complex has been designed in a way that it gives the impression of a mini-city having all major facilities of its own. Unlike other buildings in Las Vegas, which are built on separate structural themes, the City Centre is made as a cluster of modernized contemporary urbanized buildings making it a hi-fi multiple building complex.
MGM Mirage"s City Centre project was the brain-seed of Ehrenkrantz Eckstut and Kuhn Architects. The master plan was to build 2650 condo-hotel units spreading over multiple skyscrapers and mid-hi buildings on the Las Vegas Strip.
This multiple-building project has been planned to make use of the Green Technologies to make this complex not only the world"s largest but also the one of the world"s most eco-friendly centre.
Moreover, the City Centre has been facilitated with all the commodities of Las Vegas life i.e. hotel rooms, casinos, ballrooms, shopping centers, residential condo-units, parking lots and Las Vegas Strip"s only grocery store.
Siemens Engineering company is going to built the complex"s own 9 megawatt central energy power plan. The lead contractor of the City Center"s project is Perini Building Company with the executive construction management by Tishman Construction Corporation.
ARIA Resort and Casino
The City Center"s central and the most luscious feature will be the ARIA Resort and Casino. This 61-storey building has been magnificently designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architectures. At the base of the building will be a large classic casino.
There will be a tri-storey lobby at the base as well which will be made using natural material like wood and stone work. The two rounded curvilinear glass towers will house 4004 luxurious hotel rooms.
ARIA Resort and Casino"s special feature is the sculptor Maya Lin"s silver-cast sculpture being prepared for the reception area of the building which features the Colorado River.
