Chrisette Michele is a young singer who has many hit singles and Grammy nomination in her kitty. She is R&B singer and has ventured with many popular artists along with her debut album.

Born on December 8, 1982 in Central Islip, New York, Chrisette Michele is of Native American and southern African American descent.

Her father was deacon and mother was a choir director. She led gospel choirs in high school and college. She also participated in girl scouts, tap class and took piano lessons.

Chrisette studied music at 5 Towns College in Long Island where her teachers further nurtured her singing skills. She reflects her childhood memories in her own Def Jam debut album that is making waves all around.

Chrisette is inspired by singers such as Macy Gray, Jill Scott and Erykah Badu. She sings jazz but also incorporates other techniques to it.

This twenty-four year old singer, songwriter and composer is blessed with an old soul and she has a deep appreciation for the harmonic foundations that includes gospel and jazz.

Chrisette believes in trying to do something different in music. Initially, she did not launch herself with a solo album. She rather collaborated with many famous artists on their albums or singles that gave her the right kind of experience and exposure.

She has been featured on several popular hip hop albums. These include The Game's album, L.A.X on "Let Us Live", The Roots' single "Rising Up", Jay-Z's Kingdom Come "Lost One" and Nas' Hip Hop Is Dead in which she was featured three times.

These include album?s second single "Can't Forget About You", the Kanye West-produced "Still Dreaming" and the final track "Hope".

Chrisette has also appeared on the bonus track "Slow Down", from Ghostface Killah's The Big Doe Rehab and "Rising Up" from The Roots' album, Rising Down.

She also wrote a song for Tyler Perry's House of Payne entitled "I've Gotta Love Jones". She has got the right musical blend that makes her hot favorite of various artists who make her sing or write for them.

It was because of the immense talent of Chrisette that she got fame even before the release of her first album. This was evident from her live performances where the audience go crazy whenever and wherever she performs.

She has toured with more established artists like Kem and India Arie. She made a contract with Def Jam for the release of her debut album.

With the release of her debut album in 2008, Chrisette Michele has shared those musical dreams with the rest of the world that she has been seeing since childhood.
