The Chimes of Christmas features most notable Trombone Choir and averaging 115 members of the Grammy-nominated Singing Hoosiers. The Singing Hoosiers feature collegiate performers from the world-renowned Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
Featuring dazzling choreography, energy and style, the ensemble performs at American popular music jazz, and Broadway favorites. They perform annually on the campus of IU, especially in the Chimes of Christmas, in opera, at Big Ten Basketball games and in Ontario productions presented by the IU Jacobs School of Music.
The Singing Hoosiers have rocked the shows with several legendary entertainers such as Bob Hope, Alan Sherman, Red Buttons, Tony Bennett, Duke Ellington, and Indiana?s favorite son Hoagy Charmichael. Moreover, the group has performed with opera legend Sylvia McNair as well as with several professional symphony orchestras.
The Singing Hoosiers has also appeared on a televised PBS Christmas special with Mel Torme. Their partnership with Maestro Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops resulted in the release of several recordings on the Telarc International label such as the Grammy-nominated A Disney Spectacular and The Music Man.
