Chimaira is a popular heavy metal band hailing from Cleveland, Ohio in the United States of America. The band was created in 1998. The band was created in 1998 by Mark Hunter the lead vocalist and Jason Hager the lead guitarist. Hunter and Hager got in touch with a group of friends like Andrew Ermlick who became the bassist and Jason Genaro who took on the drums in order to complete the band. In January 1999, Chimaira successfully recorded their debut demo. It was during the recording of this demo that Arnold suggested that Genaro to be replaced by his former drummer. Much of 1999 was spent in appearing in many live shows all across the country by the band. During this time they effectively recorded their second demo which received an immense amount of airplay on numerous college radio stations. The band signed on to the record label of Roadrunner and managed to record their first EP titled as This Present Darkness that came out in 2000. The EP was seen charting on the top 10 at the popular Metal Radio. By 2001, they recorded their full length debut album called Pass out of Existence.

After touring extensively, they finally reached home by the end of 2002. The band began to write as well as record their next album titled as The Impossibility of Reason. The making of this album was recorded on their first DVD release that was known as The Dehumanizing Process.

In 2005, Chimaira had fruitfully wrapped up much of the material that would now be seen on their self-titled album stated from release in August 2005. The band once again went on to tour. For their international management, they got a deal with Nuclear Blast. Their fourth album, Resurrection came out on the 6^th of March in 2007. Two years later, on the 21^st of April in 2009, their fifth album, The Infection was released all over the world. This album was placed at the 30^th slot on the Billboard 200. The band embarked on a European tour soon after. On the 16^th of August in 2011, their sixth album, The Age of Hell came out.

The band is well known for its absolutely electrifying and intensely energetic live concerts. They enjoy a colossal fan following which explains the completely sold out crowds that they perform to. On the 29^th of December in 2012, they announced that they will be releasing another album in 2013. On the 18^th of April in 2013, a teaser video of their new album titled as Crown of Phantoms was released.
