Armin Van Buuren is a famous Dutch musician, a DJ and trance producer renowned all over the world for his  trance and electronic music. From Leiden in the Netherlands, he has taken the whole world by storm and is one of the best known DJs and producers in the world. He is also a musician who plays the piano, a songwriter and a composer. Armin Van Buuren grew up in Kouderkerk aan den Rijn ad began making his own music at the age of fourteen, inspired by the work of Jean Michel Jarre, a French electronic musician. He studied at the Stedelijk Gymnasium Leiden and then at the Leiden University. He started work as a DJ at the Club Nexus, playing sets six or more hours large. He began attracting a huge following, putting on hold his degree in law for his music. He did, however, return to the university to graduate with a law degree in 2003. He received the Officer of the Order of Orange Nassau for services in music, from the Dutch government.

Armin Van Buuren rose to fame with the release of a song labeled Blue Fear, when he was nineteen years old. It charted on the UK Chart and was followed by yet another track, Communication, which was highly popular in Ibiza, Spain. It charted in the top twenty of the UK Chart,  following his being signed onto AM PM Records. In 1999, Dave Lewis introduced him in the US and England as a DJ and by 2001, he had grown immensely popular, so much so that he was ranked twenty seventh on the DJ Magazine Top 100 poll.  

He would go on to perform in over twenty five countries of the world, often at some of the biggest festivals in the world. He also made a record when he played a twelve and a half hour long set at the Dancetheater, located in The Hague, Netherlands. In the UK, he has performed at Passion, Gatecrasher, Godskitchem Peach, Slinky, Ministry of Sound and Golden. He has also founded his own record label, releasing music as Gaia. He has also worked with yet another world famous DJ, Tiesto, to work on two projects and their albums; Major League and Alibi.

As early as 2001, his songs were topping charts such as the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. In the US, he gained a lot of popularity after his fourth album. His radio show, A State of Trance, is aired by many radio stations in the world, including by XM Satellite Radio in Canada and the US. He has toured and played at many American cities, including Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco and Chicago. He has won forty two awards to date, from seventy one nominations.
