At the age of twenty-nine, Anthony Johnson is, literally and metaphorically, one towering name in the world of Heavyweight Mixed Martial Arts. Standing tall at 6 feet 2 inches, he has achieved a string of thundering victories in recent years. Today, he is considered to be one of the most popular fighters.
Anthony Johnson was formerly associated with the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) while currently he is on the WSOF (World Series of Fights) circuit. He is a versatile fighter who has fought bouts in more than three categories of weight. He started his career with Welterweight and between 2006 and 2011, fought bouts in that category. He then shifted to Middleweight category in 2011, and then to Light Heavyweight. However, the Heavyweight category was meant for him, and he is now on his way to rule this category. Get Anthony Johnson tickets and watch this champion knock the hell out of his opponent.
Johnson's fight style is aggressive and a sight to remember. He does not simply wrestle, he delivers knockout punches. His kick is more dangerous than his punch. He uses a lethal combination of kicks and punches and is well known for knocking out his opponents within a couple of minutes only.
Anthony Johnson's talent was recognized during his college days. He participated in the college wrestling team and before he would storm the UFC scene, he achieved some amazing victories on the junior college level including a national championship.
He initiated his international wrestling career from the Welterweight category, fighting various world champions in the first five years. But due to persistent weight issue, whereby he could not bring his weight down, he moved to the Light Heavyweight category in 2012.
Johnson made his debut on the WSOF circuit by defeating D.J. Linderman (at 205 pounds). His major victories include those against Dan Hardy (UFC Fight Night 24), David Branch (Titan Fighting Championship 22), Charlie Brenneman (UFC on Versus 6). He made his debut at the Ultimate Fight Championship (UFC) on Fight Night 10 by knocking out Chad Reiner just thirteen seconds into the first round. This shift into Heavyweight proved fruitful for Johnson as he has been scoring one win after another.
Anthony Johnson is an optimistic person who shows true sportsman spirit even in face of misfortune. He has been struggling with weight cutting issues since the last year and now weighs 265 pounds. Early in 2012, he was in trouble with UFC that finally axed him during his Bout 142 against Vitor Belfort due to him missing weight. But he took the bad news positively.
Although Anthony Johnson has not been active in UFC circuit off late due to his missing weight targets, he is now ready to strike back in full force. He says that he will continue to fight and will take each fight at a time. This should give his fans enough reason to get Anthony Johnson tickets for his upcoming bouts.
