The Tacoma Rainiers is a unique name for minor league baseball team, which plays in the Pacific Coast League. They are the AAA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. It is in the town of Tacoma since 1960. It has been in the PCL, the longest current active streak of membership in the league.

Tacoma's history tells us that it had joined PCL as the Tacoma Tigers, in 1904. It had relocation from Sacramento after the 1903 season. The Tigers had won the first PCL pennant, by finishing first in both halves of the split season schedule.
